Ms. Martha Ploshay - Educator, Reading Specialist, and Literacy Coach

Martha has lived out her passion for sharing the joys of learning with children throughout her career as a teacher, reading specialist, and reading/writing literacy coach - teaching both children and colleagues that learning is a life-long, joyous endeavor. Martha refers to Allentown as inviting, rich and unique, and realizes that preserving our historic assets is of utmost importance. She is a member of the Allentown Historic Preservation Review Commission and dedicates a great deal of her time to the community. Martha is a natural leader, well-liked, and highly respected by others. She and her husband Jeff enjoy local history and nature wherever they travel. Along with being an exercise fanatic, she enjoys tandem rides with her husband, working with church kids, gardening, entertaining, and creatively enjoying life. Two of her favorite quotes are “Our lives - a signature of excellence…live with passion; make a difference!

Ms. Mary Garrison - Co-founder and Co - Owner of a boutique consulting firm

Mary and her husband Bill were looking 30 years ago for one of the ‘special places’ away from New York City to put down roots and contribute to the community, thus settling in the Borough of Allentown. Together, in their boutique consulting firm, they are both workaholics focusing on preserving collections in major museums and archives in the US and internationally, as well as on preserving America's monuments. Mary is a long-time member of the Allentown Historic Preservation Review Commission. She is brilliant and works tirelessly to preserve the best things about Allentown. When not working or volunteering for Allentown in many areas, she enjoys helping young people, photography, and playing with her dog Bailey. Mary believes in the worth, unique talent, and approach of every individual and reminds us that ‘everybody matters’ ad infinitum. Mary holds a professional degree in architecture and began her long career at the Tennessee Valley Authority designing buildings.
